Did Udeshika Prabodhani really go home by bus?

With the Sri Lanka women's team winning the Asia Cup, the attention of the country was always about the Sri Lanka women's team.  But as long as the crown was won, the majority of Sri Lankans only knew about Chamal Athapata. The story of Udeshika Prabodhana going home on the bus after winning the Asian Cup is gaining momentum.

Udeshika Prabodhana is the oldest player to play in the T20 series among major countries in the world, and she is 38 years old. Currently she is the left-arm fast bowler with the most wickets in T20 and in 2014 she ranked first among the 20-20 bowlers.  Apart from Chamariya Athapattu, she is the only Sri Lankan player to have played in international women's T20 matches.  Udeshika is an excellent bowler who swings the ball into the wicket with very accurate lines and bowling. The live telecast helped to understand the mindset of the Sri Lankan audience when she was given to bowl the last over of the Asia Cup.  Many people started questioning giving her the last over.  Kusal Mendis once said to the media that 'only people who know cricket were with me' is also appropriate for this occasion.

Despite all these things, the media advocate is caught in the wrong place.  The way she went home was important to them, media responsibility and ethics were forgotten.   All the media gave wings to this news by pointing out the social decline as well as the decline of the media. The journalists who want to highlight the talent of a player and tell their values to the country destroy the image of the players.

The intelligent community should resist the negative attraction of the media and work to sharpen the thinking of the people in a responsible manner that affects the development of the country. There is no crime in a country like the silence of the intelligentsia. Therefore, the intelligent audience should also raise their voice for what is right.
