Representation of women in Sri Lankan politics is important.

The 2024 general election is less than the number of fingers. The lack of any female candidate in the presidential election in Sri Lanka was a main topic to discuss the challenges faced by women in politics. By never being involved in the decision-making process, health education and women  Critical issues such as gender equality are receiving less attention.

In a country where more than eight percent of the country's population is represented by women, the fact that at least one woman has not been nominated for the highest office is not only politically but also socially a factor that questions the gender identity. But women are represented in the general election.  Almost every party has chosen women representatives for their team. This is a matter of social discussion and importance. Although fifty two percent of the population of Sri Lanka are women, the representation of women in the parliament is five and four tenths.  The word is 255 percent recognizable.

Issues such as reproductive history, gender-based violence and economic equality are not given much attention due to the exclusion of bodies from politics, and women's involvement in politics can ensure equality-based policy-making and add diversity to the decision-making process.

In this regard, the media can act by providing more opportunities for women leaders in the media, sharing the experiences of women in politics, and challenging stereotypes and biases.By encouraging women to contest elections and creating an enabling environment for their empowerment.

Although there is no female candidate for the presidential election, we should never forget that women are under-represented in the current general election.Women's representation is not only a matter of equity, but also essential for more effective governance.
