Importation of vehicles that violate the ban
The main topic that is being talked about these days is the inability to release the vehicles imported into the country from the port. Because of this, the Association of Vehicle Importers is tired. For a period of five years from the year 2020, the importation of vehicles into the country was stopped due to the bad economic situation in the country.
Although no one has been able to import vehicles through vehicle associations respecting the law, there may have been those who managed to import vehicles without legal policies. The cases of Saparia that were hidden in various parts of the country show that many vehicles have been imported to this country throughout this period.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Development of this country is Anura Kumara Dissanayake and he had issued a gazette related to the import of vehicles with effect from January 11th and imposed a high tax value of 300 percent on vehicles that are less than ten years old from the date of manufacture. In an era where these tax problems have arisen, attention should be given to vehicles in a way that is beneficial to the economy of the country.
There are reports that more than three hundred vehicles have been brought to Sri Lanka even during the period when the import of vehicles was stopped.
